Author Bio: Sam Kirby
Born into a family of fishermen and the great great niece of naval hero Lord Nelson, I always had the sea in my blood. Now I am never to be found too far from the water whether in my work teaching scuba or my passion -- freediving.
After a stint in the Red Sea, I currently live in Bristol and work full time for PADI. Without any warm, blue water at hand, I have discovered the attraction of cold, green lakes. My freedive club, SaltFree Divers, www.saltfreedivers.com meet at least once a month to dive, train and party at the National Diving Centre in Chepstow. To warm up, I teach for DeeperBlue.net in the beautiful 30m tank at HMS Dolphin.
My other freedive roles include Training Officer of the British Freedive Association, UK Team Captain/Coach for 2004 and a separate, not so secret mission as PA to The Deepest Bear.
When I'm not diving, I'm writing, listening to music, devouring books or playing my flute and saxophone. Life is hectic but I like it that way.
